New dementia resources
Posted on May 5, 2023
If you’ve received a dementia diagnosis or are caring for someone with dementia, a new information sheet and directory are available to help you find services and support.
Primary Health Tasmania (Tasmania PHN) developed the resources with Australian Government funding. They are available at tasp.hn/dementiaresources
It’s estimated that nearly half a million Australians are living with dementia, with nearly 29,000 diagnosed with early onset dementia (including people in their 30s, 40s and 50s), while 1.6 million Australians are involved in the care of someone living with dementia.
Primary Health Tasmania worked with TasCOSS to develop the Dementia Directory as part of the FindHelpTAS website. The directory links to support services and resources for people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, their family, friends, and carers.
Our new information sheet outlines where patients, family and carers can find services and support following a dementia diagnosis. It’s available in English, Greek, Simplified Chinese and Nepali.
If you’re worried about a dementia diagnosis, talk to your GP.
