Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2026

Posted on July 6, 2026

NAIDOC Week (5–12 July) is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks 50 years of honouring and elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture and resilience. It recognises people who have shaped and strengthened the movement over the past five decades, while celebrating the achievements of today and the vision for future generations.

Across Lutruwita/Tasmania, organisations and communities will be hosting a range of events and activities, including flag-raising ceremonies, community gatherings and cultural celebrations. These events provide opportunities to connect, learn and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

You can explore what’s happening across the state by visiting:

The official NAIDOC Week website also offers resources, event information and ideas to help you get involved.
