New Medicare Mental Health Centre opens in Glenorchy

A new Medicare Mental Health Centre has opened its doors in Glenorchy, expanding access to free mental health support for people in southern Tasmania. 

Located in the old Snows Dry Cleaning building at 388 Main Road, the service is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, with no appointment or referral required. 

People experiencing mental health concerns can access immediate, short and medium-term support, in a safe and welcoming place. The centre also helps people connect with other suitable services in the community and offers information and advice for carers, family members and friends. 

Support is delivered by qualified mental health professionals and peer workers with lived experience of mental health challenges. 

Primary Health Tasmania has commissioned Stride Mental Health to deliver this service at the Glenorchy Medicare Mental Health Centre, alongside existing centres in Burnie, Devonport and Launceston.
