This 2.5-hour session is an interactive, case-based workshop enabling peer discussion alongside the development of practical skills. This training aims to increase pharmacists’ skills and confidence in recognising signs warranting further exploration for suicidality, talking with someone who may display suicidal signs and symptoms, and understanding of the various referral options. This is a collaboration funded by Primary Health Tasmania, with the Black Dog Institute, Pharmacy Guild of Australia and Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
You must complete this session to be eligible for Suicide prevention skill building for pharmacists and pharmacy assistants – session two.
CPD – Pharmacy 2.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 2.5 CPD credits) which can be converted 2.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (5 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise the prevalence of suicide in the context of pharmacy
- Identify risk factors and warning sign of someone that may have suicidal thoughts
- Prepare for a conversation with someone who may display suicidal signs and symptoms
