Primary Health Tasmania provides support to allied health professionals through resources, professional development, training and networking.
We also coordinate the Allied Health Network Advisory Group.
This group promotes networking, collaboration and professional development amongst allied health professionals working in primary care across Tasmania. It encourages coordinated, person-centred primary health care that leads to improved health outcomes for Tasmanians.
Feedback from the group helps Primary Health Tasmania better understand and – where appropriate – response to the workforce’s needs and priorities.
The group aims to meet every two months. Resources generated by the group – including education and networking events – are promoted through Primary Health Tasmania’s weekly Primary Health Update newsletter and on this website.
Group members are Tasmanian allied health professionals practising in primary care, who are affiliated with their respective peak bodies. The following allied health professions are represented, with the group open to future representation from other professions:
Some privately employed allied health professionals working in the Hobart and Launceston areas can access the Australian Government’s Free Interpreting Service.
Pharmacies can also access the service to provide community pharmacy services.
The Free Interpreting Service aims to provide equitable access to key services for people with limited or no English language proficiency. It is delivered by the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) on behalf of the Australian Government.
More information about the service is available on the TIS National website.
